Responsibilities:

 

- Collaborate with the team to develop and implement a strategic plan for integrating simulation and skills into the campus flow,

- Coordinate simulation lab use and schedules, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices,

- Facilitate simulation sessions and engage in skills practice and validation with students and faculty,

- Assist students, faculty, and lab/clinical instructors in utilizing simulation equipment and experiences across various levels of fidelity,

- Analyze data related to skills and simulation to identify trends and inform curriculum development,

- Supervise, oversee, and evaluate the work performance of work-study students, including assigning tasks, monitoring safety, and assisting in hiring and scheduling,

- Review, revise, and update policies, procedures, and protocols governing the simulation skills lab,

- Conduct remediation activities to support student retention, NCLEX success, and community partner satisfaction,

- Collaborate with the Site Director and/or the Executive Director of the School of Nursing and nursing faculty to develop an annual budget for simulation laboratory requirements and serve as a point of contact for vendors.

 

Additional Functions:

 

- Ensure all simulation equipment is functioning properly and safely for student use, coordinating repairs and updates as needed,

- Utilize audiovisual technology to provide recordings of nursing skills practice and demonstrations,

- Author and facilitate simulation scripts and interdisciplinary scenarios following best practices,

- Conduct moulage to create realistic nursing care scenarios,

- Inventory, order, and restock supplies for the simulation lab as needed,

- Serve in the role of Faculty, as directed by the Site Director or the Executive Director of the School of Nursing, following all the Responsibilities and Roles as defined in the Nursing Faculty Handbook under “Faculty.”

Qualifications:

 

- A minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited institution; if a master's degree is in a discipline other than nursing, the faculty member must submit evidence of acceptable graduate-level coursework in nursing, which includes learning principles for adult education, nursing curriculum development, administration, and evaluation; a doctorate is preferred,

- Current, Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of North Dakota, or able to attain,

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing education or simulation coordination,

- Preferred experience with teaching nursing skills and simulation with underserved populations,

- Familiarity with the challenges and barriers faced by diverse student populations in nursing education,

- Certification in Healthcare Simulation preferred (e.g., CHSE),

- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills,

- Proficiency in audiovisual technology and simulation software,

- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a dynamic environment,

- Commitment to promoting excellence in nursing education and serving underserved communities.
