A Surgery Center in Portland, OR is looking for a Registered Nurse to join their team.


Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Participates as a team member in support of the total perioperative process
  • Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel for management of area.
  • Reviews patients’ medical records/needs to plan care with other healthcare team members
  • Assists with identification and confirmation of operative site and provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel
  • Assists in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient prior to admission
  • Provides preoperative instruction and explanation of patient rights and responsibilities and describes the perioperative experience to the patient/significant other
  • Obtains pertinent patient records prior to patient’s arrival for preoperative testing and performs all necessary tests (i.e., glucose testing, pregnancy testing, etc.)
  • Reports all abnormal values to anesthetist/attending surgeon
  • Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative and postanesthesia period
  • Assesses and documents the patient’s physical and emotional status upon arrival in the recovery area
  • Monitors patients and informs surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications
  • Performs thorough postoperative patient assessment prior to discharge of the patient
  • Reviews postoperative instructions and prescriptions from the surgeon with patient and significant other and documents in the patient’s medical record


Selling Points

Requirements:

  • PACU/Pre-Op & Post Op Experience
  • IV Experience
  • ACLS Cert


Schedule/Shift:

  • Flexible: 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts
  • Shift generally starts at 7 am and you go until you’re done (can be 6:30 or later).
  • Mon-Wed, sometimes Thursdays are required - usually at least once a month


Pay:

$45 - $48 an hour (Dependant on experience)
