POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Graphic Artist - Sports Licensed Apparel is a specialized design role focused on creating high-quality artwork for women's licensed apparel at Gameday Couture. This position involves designing and optimizing graphics for some of the world's leading sports institutions, including: NCAA, NFL, MLS, and TEAM USA, while adhering to strict licensing and brand guidelines. Key responsibilities include artwork creation, preparing files for various print methods (e.g., screen printing, DTG, DTF), editing product images, and managing end-to-end graphic production. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, attention to detail, and an understanding of fan culture are essential to success in this role.


The ideal candidate will bring advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, a strong background in apparel design, and a passion and knowledge for sports. They must excel in project management, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and stay ahead of design trends to create innovative, on-brand visuals that resonate with the diverse fanbase. Reports To: Head of Design and Development

Location: DFW Area, (4 days in office, 1 day remote)


OVERVIEW:


  • Artwork Design: Utilize expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to create artwork designs for licensed college and professional sports apparel. Collaborate with the Senior Art Director to ensure all designs align with brand vision and licensing requirements.
  • Apparel Decoration and Print Setup: Prepare and optimize artwork for various print processes, including screen printing, direct-to-garment (DTG), direct-to-film (DTF), applique’, and many more. Ensure files are production-ready by managing accurate color and logo guide specs, sizing, and format specifications tailored to each print process/garment type.
  • Product Imagery: Edit, and enhance product images for apparel, ensuring high-quality, consistent, and brand-aligned visuals. Use photo editing techniques to retouch, color corrections and edits, and optimize product photos for online and print, adhering to brand standards.
  • Graphic Production: Take ownership of assigned design projects, ensuring timely completion and strict adherence to deadlines. Collaborate with the creative team to streamline workflows and optimize graphics and photo production processes.
  • Collaborative Approach: Work with the creative/graphics team and cross-functional teams (marketing, product development, licensing) to understand project requirements, provide creative input, and contribute to cohesive design concepts.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all artwork designs and product images meet brand guidelines and licensing requirements for licensed apparel. Coordinate with the licensing division to confirm compliance and address any issues that arise.
  • Sports Knowledge: Leverage a genuine passion for NCAA, NFL, and MLS sports to create artwork that resonates with our target audience and reflects the diverse fan culture.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, design techniques, apparel decoration technology, and advancements in graphic production to continually improve the quality and efficiency of the creative process.
  • Resourcefulness: Proactively identify solutions to challenges during the design and production process, whether for digital artwork or product imagery.

SKILLS:

Graphic Design: Strong foundational design skills, including color theory, typography, layout, and composition.

Image Retouching and Editing: Expertise in photo editing, including basic (removing small imperfections) and advanced techniques (such as color adjustments and mockups).

Branding and Visual Consistency: Ability to create visuals that adhere to brand guidelines and maintain a consistent look and feel across all platforms.

Software Proficiency: Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, Miro, and Master level with automation tools or plugins in Photoshop and Illustrator for efficient asset management.

File Management and Optimization: Strong skills in organizing and formatting files for web and print, ensuring they meet technical specifications (resolution, file size, color profile) for different platforms.

Digital Asset Management: Ability to use cloud storage tools (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive) and follow naming conventions for easy retrieval and team collaboration

Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines, prioritizing tasks to meet production schedules.

Attention to Detail: Strong focus on details, ensuring all assets are error-free, meet brand standards, and are properly formatted.

Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills for working with cross-functional teams, understanding project briefs, and incorporating feedback effectively.

Project Tracking and Reporting: Experience with project management tools like Airtable, Asana, or Trello to manage task progress, meet deadlines, and document design changes or updates.

Trend Awareness and Adaptability: Ability to stay updated on design, marketing, and social media trends, quickly adapting styles or approaches based on industry changes.

Creative Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills for finding creative solutions when faced with design or production challenges. Team-player mentality with a focus on collaborative problem-solving.

Learning New Tools and Techniques: Willingness to learn new tools, design techniques, or methods to stay efficient and relevant in the role.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 6-8 years of professional design experience, specifically in apparel, with a strong portfolio showcasing high-quality, innovative work.
  • Previous experience leading projects or collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment, such as an agency or in-house creative team, is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with licensed product design or brand compliance (if applicable to the industry).
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to and leverage modern technology and communication platforms that drive efficiency and collaboration within remote teams, including tools adopted in the past five years such as Slack, Airtable, Miro, and Google Meet. Experienced in integrating these platforms into workflows to streamline project management, enhance cross-functional communication, and ensure seamless collaboration across geographically dispersed teams.
