Sunrise Engineering is currently initiating a search for a full-time Structural Engineer to support our growing organization. This Full Time position is based in our Salt Lake City, Utah office during our business hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

A Day in the Life of a Structural Engineer

As a Structural Engineer at Sunrise Engineering, each day unfolds with a sense of purpose and excitement. Collaborating with a dynamic team, you embark on a journey to create innovative solutions for community engineering projects.

Your day-to-day activities may include:

  • Perform structural analysis and calculations. The focus of this position will be commercial and municipal buildings. Experience designing tilt-up buildings, masonry buildings, and other concrete structures is preferred.
  • Prepare original structural drawings and revisions for buildings and other structures.
  • Provide competent structural analysis using common structural software programs such as RISA 3D, Ansys, STAAD, Enercalc etc. Assist with developing construction plans using AutoCAD and REVIT. Provide review and QA/QC of construction plans and calculations.
  • Design Post-Tensioned concrete structures for tanks and floor slabs. Previous experience with PT-slab design and plan production preferred.
  • Leading and managing structural engineering projects, which encompass municipal and commercial buildings using concrete, masonry, steel, and timber design.
  • Acting as a client advocate, ensuring client satisfaction and building lasting relationship by participating in business development and marketing activities focus on building design.
  • Participate in local or national organizations related to structural engineering.

Qualifications for success include:

  • A Master’s degree in engineering coupled with a valid P.E. License. S.E. License is preferred and the ability to obtain S.E. license is expected.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering projects.
  • Proven strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and clients.
  • Adaptable and open to working both in the office and on various project locations, embracing diverse challenges and environments.
  • Goal driven individual with a desire for growth opportunities.
