Job Summary

The Automation Mechanical Engineer (Hands-On) will be an integral part of our operations, directly supporting our manufacturing floor to design, implement, and maintain advanced machinery. This role combines design expertise with hands-on work to ensure machinery operates at optimal efficiency and reliability. The successful candidate will be passionate about both mechanical design and hands-on work, ready to troubleshoot, perform maintenance, and be a proactive problem solver in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Design & Development: Create and modify mechanical designs for production equipment, tooling, and fixtures to improve efficiency, reliability, and output quality.
  • On-Floor Implementation: Work directly with machines on the manufacturing floor to implement designs, make adjustments, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform and coordinate routine and preventive maintenance on machinery, responding quickly to equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze mechanical processes and equipment layout, proposing modifications that will enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline production.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical failures, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems, ensuring smooth and safe operation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Automation, Electrical, and Production teams to integrate mechanical elements into larger systems, enhancing automation efforts and supporting overall project goals.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of designs, repair logs, and machine adjustments to support knowledge sharing and compliance.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years in a hands-on mechanical engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing and modifying equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mechanical drives, and automation technologies.
  • Experience with fabrication and machine shop tools is a plus.
