Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Integrated Power Co., specializing in the preparation and submission of bids for electrical substations, transmission lines, underground utility, and site preparation projects across the U.S. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Bluebeam and Excel, have a strong understanding of substation components, and be capable of estimating project costs from concept to completion. Field experience is beneficial but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed project estimates based on customer bid proposal documentation, including pricing and bid qualifications.
  • Evaluate bidding risks, alternative solutions, and construction methods to enhance competitiveness.
  • Review, interpret, and analyze project documents (drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, etc.).
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and perform job site visits as necessary.
  • Develop and review “take-off” quantities for estimating purposes and vendor/subcontractor RFPs.
  • Collaborate with the estimating and project management teams to ensure accurate and timely bids.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and internal teams to discuss and resolve estimation inconsistencies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment with an emphasis on safe, cost-effective practices.
  • Develop project schedules for integration into proposals and list project indirect costs, including staffing and on-site facilities.
  • Ensure bids are submitted in a timely manner for team review.

Actively pursue bidding opportunities with new clients and contribute to project management and cost control as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost estimation for electrical substations or related projects.
  • Field experience is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with construction means and methods, project costs, and scheduling.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret project documentation, specifications, and addendums.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., B2W, BlueBeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of electrical substation design, construction processes, and materials.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or equivalent.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., B2W, BlueBeam).
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEEE, NESC).
