Yard Supervisor Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to all yard personnel.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and implement daily operational plans, ensuring employees are assigned tasks that meet organizational goals.
  • Lead by example and ensure employees adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient execution of all yard activities, including loading, unloading, sorting, and processing scrap materials to meet quality and operational objectives.
  • Maintain effective and respectful communication with yard personnel, customers, clients, and visitors.
  • Support the General Manager in employee training, operations, EHS audits, inspections, and other duties as needed.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all safety protocols.


Yard Supervisor Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in the scrap metal or a related industry is preferred.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience required.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven people management experience, with the ability to mentor and lead a team.
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills.
