Position Summary:


The Director of Development plays a pivotal role in nurturing relationships with benefactors to secure vital financial support for our diverse initiatives. Collaborating closely with senior leadership, this role focuses on identifying new donors, nurturing existing relationships, and elevating philanthropic engagement. Upholding ethical fundraising practices, the Director implements strategic plans to sustainably fund our mission, aiming to secure an annual budget of $3-4 million through individual, membership, and institutional support.


Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the incumbent orchestrates fundraising strategies, aligning efforts with organizational objectives. With oversight of a dedicated team, responsibilities encompass operational management, donor stewardship, membership growth, and fundraising communications. The ideal candidate brings innovative thinking, strategic acumen, and a track record of driving impactful results to propel our advancement initiatives forward.


Essential Functions:


  • Directs the performance of the Advancement team, overseeing operations, data management, membership, and communications.
  • Ensures timely acknowledgment and reporting of donations, fostering strong donor relationships.
  • Develops and executes membership growth strategies, leveraging analytics for informed decision-making.
  • Manages budgeting and forecasting activities, optimizing resource allocation.
  • Cultivates corporate and major donor portfolios, aiming for revenue expansion in each segment.
  • Establishes a major gifts program, emphasizing donor recognition and cultivation.
  • Participates in planning and executing fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
  • Facilitates board engagement in donor relations and grant-funded projects.
  • Collaborates with strategic partners to expand corporate support and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Utilizes CRM tools and software for efficient workflow management and reporting.
