Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Program Coordinator to support the daily operations and program initiatives of our domestic violence shelter. The Program Coordinator will work closely with staff and residents to ensure a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for individuals impacted by domestic violence. This role will focus on program planning, resident support, and resource coordination, providing the vital assistance needed for individuals and families to rebuild their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Coordination & Development
- Assist in the development and implementation of programs and services that support shelter residents in areas such as safety planning, counseling, legal assistance, job training, and housing.
- Organize workshops and events to provide skill-building and support resources.
- Collaborate with local agencies and community partners to enhance service offerings.
- Resident Support
- Conduct initial assessments and intake interviews with new residents to understand their unique needs.
- Provide guidance, emotional support, and crisis intervention to residents, offering referrals to counseling or additional services as needed.
- Facilitate support groups and individual sessions, helping residents develop life skills, confidence, and coping strategies.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain detailed records of resident interactions, progress, and case plans in compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Track program outcomes and compile data to support funding and grant reporting requirements.
- Schedule and supervise volunteers, ensuring appropriate training and adherence to shelter protocols.
- Safety and Facility Management
- Ensure the shelter environment remains safe, clean, and conducive to healing.
- Develop and implement safety protocols, including emergency response plans, and educate residents on safety measures.
- Collaborate with shelter management to address facility issues and improvements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience working with individuals affected by domestic violence or in a social services setting. Prior experience in case management, advocacy, or crisis intervention is strongly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis management skills.
- Proficiency in case documentation and knowledge of confidentiality practices.
- Familiarity with community resources and services for individuals impacted by domestic violence.
