Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Underwriter to join our team. This position is responsible for evaluating and analyzing complex risks. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of property and casualty underwriting principles, exceptional decision-making skills, and a proven track record of managing high-value accounts.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the Commercial Liability and Commercial Property policies for all Public and Affordable housing book of business within their assigned territory
- Successfully negotiates and communicates challenging underwriting decisions to agents and brokers.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external business partners.
- Understands, manipulates and interprets statistical information.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of Property & Casualty commercial lines products (Property, General Liability and Auto), coverage forms, rating plans, complex risk evaluation, agency operations and program management.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Works effectively within assigned authority level to achieve strategic and organizational goals.
- Interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and market trends.
Job Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial lines underwriting experience (Property, GL, Auto), required.
- Experience working with agents/brokers and an understanding of facultative reinsurance placements.
- Knowledge and experience in organizing and leading team meetings.
- Understanding of public and affordable housing operations.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
- CPCU or other industry designations preferred.
- Agents License preferred.
