Director of Multifamily Architecture
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: We are looking for a Director of Multifamily Architecture to lead the design of our various multifamily projects. We own or control the land for over 2,500 units that we anticipate getting built over the next 24-36 months. The basic function of this senior position Architect is to guide and oversee the design of the multifamily projects, work under minimal supervision to carry out designs and full architectural plan sets from concept to completion, provide direction and leadership, while supporting a positive company culture environment. Applicant must be creative and passionate about residential based multifamily projects and appreciate a modern design aesthetic.
Minimum Qualifications:
- AIA with active license in the state of Utah.
- 8-10+ years of experience in architectural design.
- Mid-rise multifamily and commercial project experience, with in-depth knowledge of commercial real-estate design principles, industry standards, building codes, and zoning regulations.
- Minimum of 5 or more multifamily projects of 150+ units or more within the last 8-10 years preferred.
- Familiar with city permitting, zoning and the entitlement process.
- Strong proficiency in relevant architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bim 360, and similar tools.
- Proficient in the Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Autodesk, PlanGrid, Lumion, and CAD as needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Enjoys a fast-paced environment, demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, organizational abilities, shows responsibility, and takes pride in their work.
- Adaptable and collaborative with diverse in-house team of developers, builders, designers, and marketing.
- Excellent/effective communication, team building, resource management and conflict resolution skills a must.
- Experience in a leadership role is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including developers, designers, contractors, consultants, and local authorities, to ensure project requirements and smooth project execution.
- Carry out designs and full architectural plan sets from concept to completion, while ensuring compliance with project programming goals, standards, specifications, and adhere to all relevant codes and regulations.
- Develop and iterate conceptual site plans or density studies, incorporating feedback and/or revisions from stakeholder or regulatory authorities until accepted.
- Integrate zoning regulations and jurisdictional requirements into site planning processes.
- Ensure quality and accuracy of architectural plans specifications and documentation.
- Study current trends in residential + multifamily projects and incorporate them into the design strategies process.
- Ability to create 3D models and loose renderings, provide reference images or diagrams where necessary.
- Provide direction on design and give guidance to project teams, facilitating creative problem-solving and design excellence.
- Assist client with city entitlements documents and guide project through permit review.
- Present project updates, progress reports, and design proposals to management, clients, and stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment of project timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, and stakeholders, maintaining open communication and addressing their needs and concerns in a timely manner.
- Be flexible as project needs and scopes shift.
