Maintenance Manager - Mt. Vernon, IL

New start-up plant in Mt. Vernon, IL - The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the plant by planning and coordinating tasks related to the design, construction, modification, and upkeep of equipment and machinery. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager. There is no relocation package available for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all aspects related to the maintenance of production equipment and plant facilities.
- Provide clear leadership and guide staff to achieve excellence while mentoring them in the development of new skills.
- Develop plans to meet current and future plant needs, implementing systems for preventative maintenance, spare parts management, and work order tracking.
- Ensure mechanical and electrical expertise is readily available to production and other departments for the upkeep of production systems, utilities, buildings, and grounds.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot building automation systems to ensure safety and compliance.
- Manage unscheduled repairs for HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, electrical, and safety systems.
- Ensure regulatory compliance is upheld and documented and up to date with evolving industry regulations and codes for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Manage relationships within and outside the organization, overseeing vendor contracts.
- Apply a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to optimize processes.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work environment.
- Follow all required safety practices, including wearing necessary PPE, ensuring confined space safety, proper chemical handling, and fall protection.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years experience in maintenance management in a manufacturing environment
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficient in MS Office
- Capable of prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and performing well under pressure
- Mechanical expertise with skills in electrical controls and pneumatic systems
- Fundamental knowledge of VFD and PLC systems
- Basic welding proficiency
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
- Experience using a CMMS to complete work orders and preventive maintenance
- Flexibility to support off-shift work when needed
