Masis Professional Group is assisting our client in searching for a Part-time Payroll Specialist in Shelton CT. This is a contract position to cover for a leave of absence and increased project workload with the possibility of conversion to a permanent role.
Starting Salary: $30 per hour
Part-Time Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 8am-5pm (no Thursdays or Fridays)
The Payroll Specialist assists the Payroll Team by performing accurate, timely and efficient processing, verification and reporting of hourly and salaried payroll data for multiple businesses entities on a weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for 500 - 800 employees in multiple locations.
- Process all aspects of assigned payrolls including verification of time entries, new hires, rehires, terminations, tax information, benefit deductions, awards, leave of absence, relocation reimbursements, bonuses, fringe benefits, garnishments, child support withholding, auditing, employee master changes.
- Process manual checks and voids in a timely manner.
- Review and validate interfaced data
- Audit assigned payrolls for accuracy and determine appropriate corrective action.
- Reconcile and prepare check requests and wire transfers for payroll liabilities (union dues, United Way, 401k contributions, etc.).
- Assist in audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Ensure accurate and timely year end processing (W-2 and/or T4) including reconciliation of tax issues
- Serve as a backup to 3 Senior Payroll Specialists
Experience and Educational Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience processing payroll from start to finish, preferably in large, multi-state, union environment
- Experience with write in sequel database is a plus, but not required
- Some form of payroll certification is a plus, but not required
- High School Diploma
