PLANT MANAGER

The Plant Manager will manage and oversee all aspects of plant operations (safety, quality, production etc.) as well as P&L. They will oversee securing customer contracts and new business opportunities. They combine business knowledge with technical knowledge to optimize profitability and efficiency when it comes to the related products and/or services.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify, implement, and support safety, environmental, lean manufacturing, quality, and process improvements.
  • Directly supervisor employees in HR, Accounting, Purchasing and Operations.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; address complaints and resolving problems.
  • Lead teams in achieving performance goals associated with safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Allocate and manage resources (labor, capacity, and materials) to optimize productivity.
  • Participate in product team meetings to help effectively improve product line performance and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrate initiative and willingness to find improvements using Lean Manufacturing.
  • Ability to respond quickly to a shifting reality and adjust initiatives and priorities accordingly.

Qualifications/Skills:


  • A minimum of ten years of experience in manufacturing/machine shop environment.
  • Must have experience leading teams within a steel/machining environment.
  • P&L experience.
  • Experience using Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Leadership experience in a union environment.
  • Providing leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to operations employees.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Organizational skills and the flexibility to juggle a variety of functions and projects.
  • Sales background a plus.
