Coding Coach (Current High School or College Students ENCOURAGE)

A gamer who genuinely loves working with children ages 5 - 14 years of age. Individuals who have teaching and working with kids experience and are computer savvy. This is a great opportunity for college or high school students looking for part-time hours who have career gaps but love teaching and working with kids. Limited commitment per day, set curriculum to provide, great pay, and we provide apprenticeship or paid training.

Here at S.T.E.A.M. Champs, we prioritize our students' learning journey. We developed a unique S.T.E.A.M. curriculum that integrates computational thinking with a champion mindset, or in other words, a growth mindset – the belief that hard work and determination can provide you with endless opportunities. We offer advanced, creative, and joyous S.T.E.M. classes, events, camps, and field trips to children 6-12. Families can choose to register for different programs, ranging in commitment from a single course to a class pack, offered both online and in-person in Brooklyn.

Our sessions are tailor-made to maximize every student’s learning potential. Students are enrolled in group coding classes based on their current level and age and are moved up when they show they have mastered the current material. On weekends, S.T.E.A.M. Champs Coding Academy holds regularly scheduled community events such as Family LEGO® build, LEGO® tournaments, and free Chess classes for all levels and ages. During the summer, S.T.E.A.M. Champs offers steam camps, providing the most advanced, fun daily activities for kids.

Responsibilities include:

• Play Minecraft and Participate in Build Challenges
• Engage your students, field their questions or issues, and explain coding concepts.
• Create a positive and safe environment in which students can grow.
• Work through the curriculum to anticipate and guide students as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Minecraft Gamer
• Computer programming experience is strongly preferred
• 16 or above
• Experience in teaching, mentoring, or child care is strongly preferred
• Works well with others; collaborates
• Knowledgeable about coding and technology; or sharp enough to quickly pick up the basic concepts
• Must be fun to work with and like working in fast-paced environments where requirements can change frequently

Compensation:

Head Coaches $18 - 20 per hour

Assistant Coach $12 - $15 per hour

Schedule:

Mondays - Fridays 3:30 - 5:30 pm & Saturdays 11 - 3 pm
