Known as the “Venice of America,” Fort Lauderdale is best explored from the water. Our narrated excursions provide historical insights and fun facts about the city's attractions, including mansions and mega yachts. With 20 stops in Fort Lauderdale and one in Hollywood at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, Water Taxi offers a unique way to see the city. We also operate a complimentary Water Trolley, supported by the City of Fort Lauderdale, with 8 stops along the River Route.


Basic Function

The Marine Maintenance Director is responsible for planning and executing daily engineering projects, supervising the activity of other mechanics, shipwrights, and boat cleaners, procuring parts and contractors, and maintaining and repairing our fleet of vessels and shoreside facilities to ensure readiness at all times. This is an on-site position located in Fort Lauderdale, FL.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain systems including engine machinery spaces and decks, following a preventive maintenance program on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis with the support of Management.
  • Coordinate resources for the flawless execution of projects on time and within budget.
  • Oversee the operation of the computerized vessel maintenance system.
  • Schedule engineering staff for maximum efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date logs and maintenance programs for all equipment and inventory.
  • Oversee the interior and exterior cleaning and upkeep of vessels to top-quality standards.
  • Conduct diesel maintenance including OEM (original equipment manufacturer) services, oil changes, injectors, fuel pumps, transmissions, and assist in engine change-outs.
  • Maintain tools, filters, and replacement parts.
  • Follow company safety and pollution prevention policies and procedures.
  • Prepare vessels for all USCG annual inspections and dry docks.
  • Participate in shoreside training as required by the company.
  • Direct maintenance of shoreside facilities including docks, buildings, and grounds.
  • Be familiar with all company policies, procedures, and Emergency Response Activities.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of diesel propulsion and electricity generation systems, as well as support systems such as fuel, air compressors, pumps, hydraulics, plumbing, refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.


Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Required to be on call as scheduled.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to multitask, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Possess or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to present information and respond to questions, potentially involving passenger contact.
  • Ability to read, write, and converse in the English language.
  • Previous marine service yard experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and participate in company events.
