PharMerica is seeking a highly capable and motivated individual to join our Pharmacist in Charge team. As a non-retail pharmacy, we are dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and meeting the specialized pharmacy needs of hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, long-term acute care centers, and other specialized care centers across the nation.


This position offers a unique opportunity to grow your pharmaceutical skills under the direct guidance of a state-licensed pharmacist while providing essential care to our patients in a closed-door pharmacy environment. Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday: 9 AM - 6 PM
  • Saturday: 8:30 AM - 5 PM


Required Certifications and Skills:

  • Valid North Carolina State Pharmacist License
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure pharmacy compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Direct pharmacy staff on scheduling, purchasing, clinical matters, and other tasks.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy management to ensure the smooth implementation of daily operations, quality initiatives, and cost containment strategies.
  • Provide clinical and technical support to the pharmacy and regional staff as needed.
  • Respond to pharmaceutical inquiries from customers and pharmacy staff, interpreting their needs and offering information and advice.
  • Maintain a comprehensive patient database, including current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including over-the-counter and home remedies).
  • Document all communication with physicians, nurses, other team members, patients, and their families in the pharmacy system.
  • Obtain and maintain all required documentation in compliance with federal and state regulatory agencies and corporate compliance policy.
  • Implement policies and procedures for the safe procurement, storage, distribution, and disposal of drugs and biologicals.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.


Education/Learning Experience:

  • Required: Degree in Pharmacy
  • Desired: Pharm D


Work Experience:

  • Required: Pharmacy experience
  • Desired: Experience in long-term care pharmacy


Skills/Knowledge:

  • Required: Knowledge of pharmacy laws and federal and state regulations concerning long-term care and pharmaceutical care practices for long-term care residents; proficiency in computer use.


Licenses/Certifications:

  • Required: Current license in the state of practice


Behavior Competencies:

  • Required: Strong organization and planning skills, attention to detail, goal orientation, teamwork, customer service excellence, and effective oral communication.
