Seeking the new Chief Estimator for our family-owned Heavy Civil Construction team. This position will have the benefit of learning from our longtime Chief as he transitions to a new role with the company.

This opportunity is perfect for an established Chief Estimator or a Senior Estimator looking to come on and grow into the position. This role requires a deep understanding of construction processes, estimating software, materials, labor costs, and industry trends. Key Responsibilities:

• Estimation: Prepare detailed, accurate, and competitive estimates for a variety of heavy civil and utility construction projects, including but not limited to site development, grading, excavation, utilities, concrete, and asphalt paving.
• Cost Analysis: Conduct thorough cost analysis, identifying potential cost savings, value engineering opportunities, and risk factors associated with each project.
• Bid Management: Manage the entire bid process, from reviewing project plans and specifications to soliciting and evaluating quotes from subcontractors and suppliers. Ensure that bids are submitted accurately and on time.
• Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, materials, and technologies. Use this knowledge to continuously improve estimating processes and enhance competitiveness.
• Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Provide clear and professional communication throughout the bidding process.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators, sharing expertise and best practices to foster their professional development.
• Leadership: Continually show the ability to run a team and perform in a leadership capacity. We are looking for the next Senior Leader of our firm.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating
• Understanding of Agtek or other earthwork take-off software
• Strong understanding of HCSS HeavyBid
• Strong understanding of construction practices, methods, and materials.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to travel as needed to job sites and industry events.
