Flow Cytometry Lead/Instructor/Scientist


Position Summary:

The Omaha-based Pancreatic Cancer Center of Excellence, under the leadership of Dr. Sunil Hingorani MD PhD, seeks to attract a seasoned Flow Cytometrist to add research and management depth, complementing both its Wet Lab and Patient Clinic. Dr. Hingorani has a storied 30+ year career in PC, innovating in both scientific research and patient care. The PCCE has unparalleled access to highly relevant research platforms including patient tissue, organoids, Murine Mice, and an extensive and unique plasma bank focused exclusively on PC patients and relatives.


You will:

Participate in pre-clinical drug discovery and development projects with a focus on Cancer-Stromal interaction & Immunology. Under the guidance of the PI collaborate across project teams to establish and validate in vivo strategies and study plans supporting exploration of novel cancer therapeutics and targeted therapies.


Develop and perform flow cytometric panels for in vivo studies to evaluate and establish pharmacological efficacy, validate combination strategies, biomarker identification and analysis.


Interpret, present and document findings of experiments as well as preparation of reports and standard operating procedures.


Be responsible for written and verbal presentation of results within a multidisciplinary team environment.


Prepare findings for publication in scientific peer-reviewed journals and presentations at internal, national, and international meetings.


Assist in the establishment, maintenance, and development of a small team to accomplish the above goals.


Time Allocation:

50% Flow Cytometry Support

Receive specimens. Perform blood, fluid and tissue processing according to defined SOPs either independently or with the assistance of research scientists and/or technicians. Document workflow.


20% Research and Development

Design, optimize, implement, execute, and validate multi-color panels to accurately identify and quantify complex cell populations within the pancreatic tumor microenvironment with guidance from principal investigator and senior scientists.


15% Data Reporting and Communication

Analyze, interpret, and prepare data for presentation with input from principal investigator and senior scientists.


15% other duties as assigned supporting a multi-disciplinary research program.


Qualifications:

Must-Have

Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Genetics or a related discipline:

- Minimum 5 years technical and scientific experience using multi-color flow cytometry to immunophenotype mammalian cells from blood and tissues;

- Experience with animal models of human cancers;

- Hands on in vivo (IV, PO dosing, blood/tissue collection), ex vivo skills;

- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills;

- Proficiency with MS office and data analysis packages (e.g. Prism, Flowjo, Systat).

Preferred:

- Strong track record of publications or evidence of equivalent achievements;

- Experience with GEMM and human tissue;

- Demonstrated ability to assist and train a small team of researchers.

- Familiarity with common biomedical research lab protocols and assays.
