You will contribute towards designing and developing a modernized Marine Corps to campaign and win in an evolving threat environment. Your efforts will provide deployed MAGTFs with the capability to deny, deter, and, if necessary, defeat adversaries as part of a naval, joint, combined, and interagency campaign.


The Senior Operational Plans Lead will be a critical thinker who is detailed and process oriented. You will provide advanced technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environments. You will conduct high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, and documentation. Your creative problem-solving skills will help provide implementation advice to address the complex challenges faced by the Marine Corps today. You will be expected to design and prepare technical reports, studies, and related supporting documentation; make charts and graphs to record results of planning efforts; and prepare and deliver presentations/briefings and conduct training.

This position is located onsite in Quantico, VA


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead organizer of the plans section and implement processes to integrate higher headquarters (HHQ) & adjacent guidance into the force development process.
  • Integrate force development guidance into joint and department-level activities to ensure that service force development activities address HHQ objectives.
  • Provide oversight of implementing the CD&I Campaign Plan and Service Capstone Concept across the Service and communicating these plans with external stakeholders.
  • Provide detailed planning documents per guidance from CD&I G5/7, ADC CD&I, and DC CD&I.
  • Interact and effectively communicate with senior Marine Corps uniformed officers and senior executives to coordinate and accomplish complex tasks.
  • Provide advice on esoteric problems that require extensive knowledge of USMC FD planning.
  • Assist in supporting CD&I as required in its overall mission.
  • Travel overnight up to approximately 10% of the time.
  • Travel throughout the National Capital Region to attend off-site meetings and planning sessions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft productivity software and web-based information management/knowledge management tools, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.


Required Qualifications:

Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship required
  • Clearance: TS/SCI required at start


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Analytics, Organizational Leadership/Management or related fields
  • 5+ years of experience working USMC planning and operations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Analytics, Organizational Leadership/Management
  • Project Management experience
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot challenges
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
