The Position

Bertoldo Carter Smith and Cullen is searching for a litigation paralegal who shares our same values and strives to fight for others by joining our incredibly successful, encouraging, and family-oriented firm. Your position will be responsible for all aspects of personal injury litigation, including, but not limited to, communication with attorneys, clients, medical providers, witnesses, and experts; drafting documents, including correspondence, discovery, disclosures and other pleadings; experience with court filing systems and state and local rules of practice; and diving into trial preparation and practice hand-in-hand with the attorney and client. A successful paralegal will support and anticipate the attorney’s needs, develop a strong relationship with clients, and will represent our firm as a professional to the Las Vegas community.

Qualifications

To be considered for the litigation paralegal position, the following qualifications are required:

  • At least 2 years of personal injury, paralegal experience.
  • Trial experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of current state rules of civil procedure, applicable statutes required.
  • Knowledge of federal rules and applicable statutes preferred.
  • Familiar with all filing systems, including, but not limited to, EFile NV, Washoe EFlex and Federal CM/ECF.
  • Oral and written interpersonal and communication skills; this includes the ability to be direct, empathetic and collaborative with a can-do attitude.
  • A self-starter and team player, able to engage, accept direction, collaborate and yet work independently.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability in fast-paced work environment.
  • Drive to change lives and create a positive impact in the community.
  • Personal, friendly, and looking for opportunities to serve.
  • Multi-tasking with willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Ability to manage a case from start to finish.

Responsibilities and Duties

Litigation paralegal duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Draft pleadings, discovery, disclosures and supplements, notices, as well as other written correspondence.
  • Collaborate with medical records staff member to ensure all records (priors, current, updated records and billing) have been requested and disclosed.
  • Monitor incoming pleadings, discovery, and other case related documents.
  • Manage medical chronologies through in-house or outsourced parties.
  • Maintain calendar and manage deadlines (including complaint service, discovery response deadlines, etc), and documents, ensuring that attorney(s) are aware of deadlines.
  • Anticipate case and attorney’s needs.
  • Review and process invoices with our accounts payable department.
  • Participate with the scheduling depositions, coordinate witness preparation time, prepare binders, secure and confirm court reporters with other staff.
  • Participate with the preparation and organization of exhibits for any and all briefs (motions/opps/replies, arbitrations, mediations, and trial briefs).

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
