Datacenter Operations Technician - 1st Shift

As a Senior Datacenter Ops Technician you will provide support, monitor critical business and batch processes. Lead projects and analysis. Guide operator problem resolution, and proactive problem avoidance efforts. Work closely with support when issues occur and collaborate with appropriate teams for problem and system resolution.


Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:

  • Lead data center projects and analysis.
  • Monitor and resubmit file transmissions (FTP's).
  • Monitor all zOS server and iSeries prod activities on shifts.
  • Monitor system consoles and environmental equipment, make schedule adjustments to maintain performance.
  • Print checks and reports, sort, and distribute.
  • Perform training and documentation.
  • Record and perform accurate shift turnovers.
  • Monitor daily production schedule.
  • Engage support when critical issues occur.
  • Create Incident tickets when critical batch processes fail.
  • Interact with programmers and Production Services.
  • Ensure security, regulatory (SOX) and corporate standards and policies are enforced.
  • Ensure batch all batch SLA are closely monitored for completion.
  • Monitor critical systems across the Enterprise for issues.
  • Participate in bridge calls when needed.
  • Participate in annual D/R test.
  • Ensure all documentation and procedures are kept up to date.


Work Experience and education requirements:

  • High School diploma, College degree in Computer Science preferred.
  • 2+ years of hands-on Computer Operations work in a data center.
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.


Rotating Three Week Schedule:

  • Week 1 - Monday - Thursday
  • Week 2 - Tuesday, Friday - Sunday
  • Week 3 - Monday, Wednesday - Friday
