Job Summary:

As an NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Shop Supervisor in the oil & gas industry, you will oversee the daily operations of the NDT shop, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and efficiency standards. Your role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of equipment and structures critical to the oil & gas operations through effective NDT methodologies.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervision and Leadership:

o Manage a team of NDT technicians, providing guidance, training, and support.

o Schedule and coordinate daily activities to meet production goals and client deadlines.

o Ensure adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.

2. Quality Assurance:

o Oversee NDT inspections and testing procedures to verify compliance with client specifications and industry codes (e.g., ASME, API).

o Complete & Review inspection reports and documentation for accuracy and completeness.

o Implement corrective actions as necessary to address quality issues.

3. Equipment and Resource Management:

o Maintain inventory of NDT equipment and consumables.

o Coordinate calibration and maintenance of equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy.

o Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.

4. Client Communication and Relationships:

o Act as a primary point of contact for clients regarding project status and technical inquiries.

o Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure NDT requirements are met on schedule and within budget.

o Resolve client concerns and escalate issues as needed to ensure customer satisfaction.



Continuous Improvement:

o Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.

o Implement best practices for NDT techniques and procedures.

o Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous learning within the team.


Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field preferred.

• Certification in relevant NDT methods (e.g., UT, MT, PT, RT) required.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in NDT operations, with at least 1 years in a supervisory role.

• Strong understanding of NDT standards (e.g., ASTM, ASNT) and regulatory requirements.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.


Working Conditions:

• Environment: Work is predominantly conducted in a shop atmosphere, some field work required, often in challenging weather conditions.

• Schedule: May require irregular hours and on-call availability to accommodate client needs and project deadlines.

• Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation, and color vision. Moving, carrying, lifting objects in excel of 60lbs. Climbing and working on ladders, stairs, and scaffolding more than 100ft. Working in or near industrial hazards.


Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to travel occasionally for onsite inspections or client meetings.

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and NDT data management software.

• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting safety protocols.
