Job Description

  • Perform work in a safe manner.
  • Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
  • Confer with applicable resources to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication (including – digital photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts).
  • Review published materials and recommended revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction.
  • Verification of document accuracy at point of use. Examples include but not limited to: Maintenance activities, equipment, time duration, task frequency, BOM data, etc.
  • Performs general office work, including the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and other software.
  • Develops and enters Maintenance preventative plans using SAP.
  • Lifting to 50lbs frequently and up to 80 lbs. occasionally may be required.


Skills Required

  • Must have at least 5-6 years' experience, great with Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint.
  • Must be able to understand blueprints/drawings of machinery. This position will require knowledge of electrical and mechanical background but a heavier focus on the mechanical side.
  • Candidate doesn't need to know how to run the machines itself (they will be working with a Maintenance employee) but they need to know how to write the documents for the machines.
  • Strong organizational abilities to multi-task and execute requests in a timely manner to support business objectives.
  • Acceptable performance, safety and conduct records.
  • Flexibility with work schedule to meet business need.
  • Be able to operate independently with general guidance from leadership.


Ideally the Manager is seeking:

  • Someone who was previously an Engineer and was hands on but worked in Maintenance
  • An Engineer who transitioned to be a Technical Writer
  • A Technician that was transitioned into a Planner role (writing JDs, etc.)


Education/Training/Certification

  • 2-year technical degree or higher is preferred but not required.
