Designer l with GIS mapping

We are searching for a Designer l with GIS mapping experience on behalf of our client. This is a 1 yr. contract assignment. (W-2) The person will be doing design work with the Solar design team. The person will be doing design/upgrade for distribution for the connection of solar. Transfer upgrade, pole to pole, pole to house upgrade.

Scope of the job: the person will go to the house/business to do a site check. Research maps, put a plan together for what the upgrade should be and develop a Design for the upgrades done through GIS. Then provide cost estimate to the engineer group.

Location: Edina Minnesota 55435

Hybrid: dependent on need for the field/office

Mon & Fri: remote. Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday in the office or field.

Responsibilities

• Assign task from manager or DER group, work on profile project, make sure there is site checks, handful project of design/construction, dealing with customer in field and also working project in the office.
• Will work with external and internal customers.
• Will meet with external customers to get gather information such as the Cost of the upgrade for the customer.
• Designer will work with customer working with permit, construction crew.

Requirements:

• High School/equivalent and associate degree (Bachelor’s degree – preferred)
• 2+ yrs experience.
• Must have MS Office experience.
• Background in construction, engineering, mapping, GIS or field staking background or/combination relatable degree
• Utility is a plus.
• Project management skills, tech savvy, and have great communication skills.
• Need to have own car, all across the states- mileage reimbursement. Day travel.

Preferred: Utility design experience, GIS, SAP, customer interaction experience, utility construction (not residential home construction)
