Role: Database Engineer

Job Description:
Overview: We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer to manage data center to AWS cloud migrations, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal downtime. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AWS RDS, SQL VMs, and PaaS environments, as well as expertise in database clustering, managed disks, and snapshots. Responsibilities include optimizing database performance, troubleshooting issues, collaborating with development and operations teams, and ensuring security and compliance. Proficiency in Linux, Python, shell scripting, and Terraform, along with a deep understanding of RDBMS systems, is essential.
Mandatory Skills-
- 4+ years of experience as a DBA, Database Engineer, or in a similar role.
- 3+ years of experience with RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL), and/or other RDBMS systems.
- Experience in UNIX shell scripting and SQL.
- 2+ years of experience in database migrations and creation of objects in SQL and NoSQL technologies.
- 1+ years of experience with DynamoDB, NoSQL databases, and/or other relational databases like RDS, PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in at least one procedural language such as Python, Ruby, Java, or Perl.
Responsibilities
- Manage data center to AWS cloud migrations for database systems, ensuring smooth transition and minimal downtime.
- Migrate databases to AWS SQL VMs, AWS RDS PaaS (DB and Managed Instance) environments.
- Utilize deep knowledge of AWS RDS to optimize database performance and scalability.
- Implement and manage DB clustering, managed disks, persistent disks, and snapshots.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related performance issues on AWS, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure database systems meet business and technical requirements.
- Continuously monitor database performance and implement improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure database security and compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Preferred Skills
- Solid experience with Linux.
- Experience troubleshooting complex software and/or networking issues.
- Knowledge on Cloud computing architecture, primarily Identity, Compute and Networking
- Expert level experience, understanding, implementation and troubleshooting of MySQL, SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle Database technology.
- Development skills utilizing Python, shell, SQL, Terraform
- Knowledge of AWS RDS, PostgreSQL is preferred.
