We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our product development team based in Atlanta, Georgia. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking product designs from concept to implementation, ensuring seamless execution throughout the process. This role requires a hands-on engineer with a strong understanding of mechanical systems, experience with 3D modeling and prototyping, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Please Note: While we welcome all qualified applicants, preference will be given to candidates who are local to the Atlanta area, as relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development: Lead the mechanical design and development process, from initial concept through to final implementation. Ensure designs meet project requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
- 3D Modeling: Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models of components and assemblies, ensuring that all design aspects are fully considered and documented.
- Prototyping: Work hands-on with in-house prototyping tools, including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and mills, to create and test prototypes. Make iterative improvements based on testing results.
- Assembly Drawings & Documentation: Develop clear and detailed assembly drawings, technical documentation, and bill of materials (BOM) for manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Cross-Departmental Communication: Collaborate with other departments, including Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance, to ensure cohesive development and implementation of products.
- Project Management: Follow through on assigned tasks, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Maintain accountability for all responsibilities, working independently with minimal supervision.
- Training & Support: Provide training and support to the manufacturing team during the implementation phase to streamline production processes and resolve any technical issues.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products meet the required specifications and quality standards before release.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in product development, mechanical design, and prototyping.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping tools, including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and other shop tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with strong organizational skills.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and the ability to work independently with accountability.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
