Novel Education Group is seeking a unique and exceptional part-time Special Education Teacher for an incredibly sweet 7th grader with high functioning autism. This presents an extraordinary opportunity for a teacher to make a profound impact.


At Novel Education Group, we are in the process of crafting a fully customized homeschooling curriculum tailored specifically to our student. We are in search of an outstanding teacher who is well-versed in various homeschooling curricula, possesses the ability to adapt and modify materials, and can adjust the curriculum as mastery is achieved.

The right teacher is loving, flexible and knows how to adapt, support and maintain high standards for our student. Responsibilities will encompass daily homeschooling lessons, meticulous record-keeping of school hours, conducting ongoing assessments and quarterly reports. They are seeking an individual who is excited to embark on a learning journey with him, is interested in building a relationship, and can provide support in his learning endeavors, whatever they may look like.


Job Details:

  • Start: Within 4 weeks
  • Grade: 7th Grade
  • Length: Academic year
  • Location: At student's home, in Moraga, California.
  • Days: Mornings, Monday-Friday
  • Time: Anytime between 9am-5pm | 25 hours/week | 5 hours/day


Qualifications:

  • Able to readily commit to in-person learning in Moraga.
  • Must be familiar with the Gestalt learning style, particularly tactile learning (e.g., learning with hands) and organic learning (e.g., spontaneous learning from the environment, such as during hikes or encounters with historical markers).
  • Must be coachable, flexible, and willing to train/be coached by parents regarding how to interact with the student. The client does not respond to standard, ABA style interactions.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Special Education private teaching or tutoring experience with children with autism.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience.
  • Experience with homeschooling is a huge plus. Duties will include logging daily hours, quarterly reports, and complying with all other standards necessary to comply with CA homeschooling standards.
  • Gracious and light-hearted in your approach.
  • Must be able to get background checked
  • References available on request.
