Provide direction and leadership to Viterra’s various Millwright & Preventative Maintenance groups throughout the organization by providing leadership support, training, and direction required to safely maintain and improve our facilities throughout the organization. The Millwright and Preventative Maintenance groups are a critical component to the overall Viterra structure by providing reliable and safe facilities for our employees and customers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for the overall direction and leadership to Viterra’s various Millwright and Preventative Maintenance groups in following overall Viterra policies and procedures and working through the various needs of individual projects/tasks assigned to the team.
- Communicate regularly with the various Millwright & Preventative Maintenance team managers to stay up to date on various activities and status of critical projects.
- Collaborate with Operations Managers, Superintendents, and the Engineering team to prioritize tasks identified in PM inspections and equipment failure reports, while developing and maintaining a 4-6 week forward-looking work schedule for individual crews to ensure timely and efficient execution.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors in organizing the equipment and materials required for various projects. Utilize the procurement teams list of preferred vendors and contractors to allow Viterra to obtain the best value for required materials and quick response to our needs.
- Assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of failure points in an effort to remedy and eliminate the issue from re-occurring.
- Develop a plan for safely replacing equipment and a long-term strategy for preventative maintenance for the organization.
- Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments
- Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working as a Millwright and or leading a Millwright team
- Previous management experience preferred
- Ability to work and interact well with others with an ability to motivate individuals to work as team to accomplish organizational goals
- Capable of clearly communicating company direction, goals, expectations, and safety practices
- Skilled in making quick decisions and at times under stressful conditions
- Understanding and comfort working with Microsoft office suite specifically Word, & Teams.
- Previous experience installing wear surfaces, bearing and gear box lubrication, grain facilities, material handling equipment, and crane and rigging operations
- Knowledge of grain handling machinery, dust control systems and structures
- Ability to troubleshoot motors, gear drives, and material handling systems
- Previous experience developing and executing preventative maintenance plans of action at a corporate level
Special Demands:
- Ability to travel at least 50%. This position requires a minimum of 50% travel to assess work sites, coordinate part orders, and prepare job sites for crew execution.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, kneel, and bend.
- Exposure to moderate to loud noise within the work environment.
- Exposure to heavy concentrations of grain dust.
- Ability to frequently move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Ability to frequently wear personal protective equipment correctly, including respirators, fall protection, safety glasses, hard hat, etc.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to comfortably work at heights of approximately 200 ft.
- Ability to work in outdoor work environment, including various climates, weather conditions, and inclement weather, approximately 80% of the time.
- Ability to perform all job responsibilities with necessary special demands for up to 8 hours per day.
