  • 12+ month contract opportunity (full-time, 40 hours/week Mon-Fri)
  • Contract opportunities are hours worked/hours paid - no PTO but there are paid holidays off
  • Hybrid work schedule (on site 1-2 days/week) ***
  • Location: San Diego, CA**
  • Hourly Pay Rate ranges up to $52/hr depending on years of related experience
  • 1-round virtual video interview


Position Overview

  • Develop communication plans and write content that support the overall strategy, reflect the key message and connect to the target audience.
  • Write and/or partner with content groups, edit, design and distribute content to support the Expert Network; (email, video, blog).
  • Manage the communication delivery process and timeline; creating, testing, sending email campaigns.
  • Proactively engage cross-functionally to understand and support communication requirements and plans.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of a year around communication calendar.
  • Ensure all content aligns with strategy and is consistent with brand identity, voice and tone.


Required Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in communications, content design, email marketing, employee engagement or related field
  • Excellent writer, editor and content developer
  • Experience with email and video creations tools
  • Ability to operate at fast pace or against tight deadlines
  • Self-starter, proactive
  • Ability to apply feedback


Additional details regarding the opportunity:

  • The Internal Comms team supports 10k-20k remote workforce at different times of the year
  • This team creates internal communications supporting employee onboarding/offboarding and throughout the time of employment
  • This team utilizes Mailchimp as their Email Service Provider (plus to have, not required experience)
  • This team provides trainings for technologies/tools used in the role
  • High volume – several hundred communication requests come to their team in a year
  • There are multiple communication requests that come to this team each day; requests could be emails, blog posts, notifications, different content types
  • Turnaround times for requests vary based on content type but generally same-day turnarounds up to 4 days are the norm.
  • It is a plus to have if a candidate does some content design experience as it pertains to communications/emails such as header images, etc.
  • The Communications Specialist needs to be self-managing and proactive; must be able to direct their own workflows to ensure work completion.
  • There will be 1-round interview (45 mins)
