The Startup UCLA Entrepreneurship Institute aims to foster a culture of startup thinking on campus, connecting students with successful alumni and the thriving Southern California startup community. Startup UCLA provides opportunities for students to learn the basics of startup thinking and offer a supportive community for developing and launching early-stage ideas. All members of the UCLA community, including students, alumni, and staff.

Role Description

This is a contract role for a Lecturer at Startup UCLA Social Entrepreneurship Summer Institute for high school students. The Lecturer will be responsible for finalizing lecture materials, delivering lectures, booking guest speakers, and conducting interactive sessions on social entrepreneurship. This is an on-site role located in Westwood, CA, as well as two virtual sessions. Candidates must be available for all four sessions, as well as prep beforehand to finalize lecture materials and book guest speakers from their own network.

The Session Schedule is 9AM-5PM as follows (excluding weekends and 4th of July):

Session A: Virtual

June 24 – July 5, 2024

Session B: In-Person at UCLA

July 7 – July 20, 2024

Session C: In-Person at UCLA

July 21 – August 3, 2024

Session D: Virtual

August 5 – August 16, 2024

Qualifications

• REQUIRED - Master's Degree
• Experience in startup thinking and entrepreneurship
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to deliver engaging lectures and facilitate interactive sessions
• Experience in mentoring and guiding students
• Knowledge of the startup ecosystem, particularly in Southern California
• Understanding of early-stage idea development and launch processes
• Ability to work collaboratively and build connections with students and alumni
• Experience in venture consulting is a plus
