Position Summary:

On behalf of our client, Warren County Community College, Edge is seeking a highly motivated professional to serve on-site as a Network Engineer/Systems Administrator. This is a project-based position.

In this highly visible role, the Network Engineer/Systems Administrator coordinates and manages network and system projects. The successful candidate will administer various systems on campus. The network engineer/systems administrator will design, install, test, implement, document, support, apply security best practices, and maintain the college’s networking and server infrastructure. This role reports to the Chief Information Officer.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer (manage, configure, and support) the school’s two campuses’ (Washington, NJ and Phillipsburg, NJ) network infrastructure. This includes the wired and wireless network fabric, controllers, VPNs, firewalls, NVRs, network applications, etc.
  • Responsible for the virtual machine environment including building, backing up, replicating, and managing virtual machines
  • Provide system administrative support as needed. This can include managing directories, account creation/removal, email, groups, permissions, etc.
  • Provide level II technical support when needed. Train the level 1 support team as appropriate
  • Functions as a lead for projects involving networking or computing at either campus. This includes the design, implementation, management, and maintenance of the entire network
  • Research trends, vendors, and technology in networking, servers, & telecommunications. Make hardware and software recommendations to meet the College’s current & future needs providing the College with a positive return on investment.
  • Provide network engineering support including maintenance, network upgrade solutions, design, and operations support in a 24x7x365 environment
  • Ensures high availability, scalability, redundancy, and security of network and server infrastructure.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree and related work experience or a combination of completed education and/or work experience equal to five years. Experience with many of the following is required:

  • Managing and supporting network and server infrastructure
  • Experience with the O365 platform and associated tools
  • Network and server monitoring utilities
  • Understanding cybersecurity best practices
  • Scripting /programming proficiency
  • Strong analysis skills
  • Quick learner
  • Physical network connectors, media, and testing tools
  • Ability to work under pressure


Compensation and Benefits:

This is a project-based position. Monthly pay of $5,500 to $5,800, medical, dental, and vision benefits, long and short-term disability and life insurance, 401(k) plan, paid time off (PTO) according to the company policy, and 10 paid holidays.
