The Senior Data Architect coordinates with cross-functional teams to plan database designs for new projects. They will communicate with technical and non-technical team members as well as external partners as they search for optimal opportunities to store and use data. The Senior Data Architect will routinely engage in strategic discussions leadership while also providing mentorship to junior team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document Logical Data Integration (ETL) Strategies for Data Flows across various Systems and the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Conduct detailed Data Analysis and Data Modeling tasks on complex Datasets with minimal supervision.
  • Offer senior-level guidance to interact with business users in planning, developing, enhancing, and maintaining components of the Enterprise Data Warehouse and related Models.
  • Establish, maintain, and adhere to Enterprise Data Modeling and Integration Standards.
  • Engage with users to plan, develop, enhance, and maintain components of the corporate model.
  • Collaborate with Technical and Business Teams to refine functional Data requirement specifications.
  • Create and present training materials such as Data Flow Diagrams, Conceptual Diagrams, and ER Flow Diagrams to effectively communicate Data Model meaning and usage.
  • Adhere to Enterprise Data Modeling Standards and participate in strategic Enterprise Data Strategies.
  • Research, present, and articulate benefits and goals of technologies.
  • Communicate project status and risks to stakeholders, sponsors, and management.
  • Contribute to the Corporate Meta-Data Repository.

An Ideal Candidate will Possess:

  • 7-10 years of data modeling experience with advanced SQL skills and familiarity with various databases, especially cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience in Application Development, ETL Development, Report Development, and/or other Data Warehouse Projects is preferred.
  • Background in Enterprise Data Management, including transactional Data, Analytical Data, and Data Governance/Administration is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in relational SQL and NoSQL databases such as Postgres and DynamoDB.
  • Strong expertise in Data Modeling and Integration tools.
  • Experience in Architecting solutions for Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics/Data Science deployments, and Enterprise Data Lake/Distribute Data patterns for Cloud Environments is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills for working with unstructured datasets and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
  • Proficiency in project management and organizational skills.
  • The ability to support and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services such as S3, Athena, Aurora, RDS, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, and SNS.
  • Thorough knowledge of Relational Database, Dimensional Database, NoSQL, and Hub and Spoke Database architectures.
  • Hands-on experience in creating and using 3rd Normal Form OLTP Databases/Models and Dimensional Models (STAR Schema, Kimball, Inmon).
  • The ability to create system and process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, sequence and UML diagrams, and understanding inter and intra system dependencies within and across functional domains.
