Job Title:- Production Group Leader

Duration:- 12- months position (May go Longer)

Location:- Detroit, Michigan

Daily Schedule/Shift:-

1st shift and 2nd shift.

5:30am-5:30pm

5:00pm-5:00am


Job Description:

As a Production Group Leader, you are responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment. Participates in the training, developing and evaluating of hourly team members. Participates in the development of highly effective teams. Leads Global Manufacturing Systems(GMS) processes and serves as resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas. Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements. Maintains awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues. Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, union and management. Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between Client and the United Auto Workers Union. Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues. Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods. Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training). Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements. Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.


Additional Job Description

- 2-3 years of Mechanic experience

- 3-5 of years in MFG

- Preferred experience in auto dealership or mechanic shop

- Ability to be flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution.

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict

- Basic computer proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Word, typing, email etc.)

- Must be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts


Group Leader Pre-Screen Questions

1. Does the candidate have experience leading a group of employees? How many? Was it union and or non-union? What kind of industry were they leading people? (Has to be manufacturing industry). What challenges did they occur AND how did they resolve discrepancies.?

2. Do they have at least 2 years of group leading experience?

3. Please ask the candidate if they have balanced multiple priorities. If so, please provide examples. Ex: handling timekeeping while being in a leadership role.

4. Can the candidate report to work on time and be dependable every day?

5. Must be flexible working any shift. If not, they will not be considered.
