This is a part-time Lead Preschool Teacher role located in Eugene. As a Lead Preschool Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for young children. You will create a nurturing and stimulating environment to promote their social, emotional, and cognitive development. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with parents, staff, and other stakeholders.


Job Requirements:


- At least one year experience as a Preschool Teacher or in a similar role

- Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education curriculum

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong organizational, time and classroom management skills

- Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate, associate degree or higher ECE degrees

- STEP 6 or higher in the Oregon registry.

- Enrolled in Child Care Division - Central Background Registry


Job Duties will include but are not limited to:


- Plan and implement lesson plans for an assigned group of children with a co-teacher, the curriculum coordinator and the Director

- Design programs and activities that meet the needs of individual children and keeping the classroom, materials, and supplies neat, clean, and orderly

- Apply Early Childhood Development theory in daily activities, and adapt to the individual needs of children

- Establish a positive, respectful classroom climate that is warm and caring in which children feel comfortable and secure

- Guide the behavior of children in positive, effective ways

- Follow a consistent schedule which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals, and transitions between activities

- Encourage exploration, problem-solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice-making; ask open-ended questions and follow-up questions to promote further learning and thinking.

- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment

- Ensure the safety of children and the safety of the environment.

- Supervise and monitor children at all times which includes responding appropriately to situations as they occur

- Work as a team member, collaborate with staff and parents

- Maintain respectful relationships and communication with children, families and staff

- Interact with children at their eye level: e.g. sitting, kneeling, stooping, bending

- Lift up to 40 pounds

- Supervise meals and snacks while encouraging social interactions

- Develop a rapport with families, and keep them informed of children's progress on an ongoing basis and hold conferences with families

- Participate in staff meetings, fundraising, and family events

- Complete training on time as needed (20 hours of continuing education training every year)


Hours & Pay:


-The job duration will be September 3rd 2024 - June 13th 2025 with an option to be hired back for the following school year and/or work hours during summer programming.

-$17-$20 per hour DOE
