People Architects is excited to recruit a Controller for our client, headquartered on the Westside of Cleveland.


The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented individual who will oversee the company's financial records and account personnel. You will be responsible for maintaining all procedures and controls related to this small to mid sized company's financial accounts.


This position requires a proven financial leader with a 10-15 year track record of success who will provide forward-looking financial leadership, analysis, and reporting to the President and senior leadership team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills and be able to develop relationships across all functional areas within the organization. They will exhibit high ethics, detail, and organizational aptitude.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish financial processes to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Support information requests and provide accurate and timely requests to the President and Senior leadership when requested.
  • Manage financial shared services, implementing strategic improvements across AR/AP and payroll.
  • Meet all reporting requirements: monthly, quarterly, year-end, and tax reporting.
  • Develop strategies to improve working capital and coordinate with international units.
  • Review monthly statements for accuracy and compliance and prepare review packages for leadership.
  • Support acquisition activity, compliance initiatives, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare reports on Key Financial Metrics and consolidate non-financial reports for productivity initiatives and performance metrics.
  • Minimize tax burden through effective global business planning.
  • Provide technical support and coaching to global financial staff, ensuring implementation of Dover initiatives.
  • Manage corporate accounting audits.
  • Assist with special projects, process simplification, and Operating Company-specific initiatives.
  • Analyze operations to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.


Qualifications (required and preferred):

  • 10+ years in professional accounting.
  • Bachelor's in Accounting; Master's in Accounting/Finance desirable.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting and as an Accounting Manager or Corporate Controller.
  • Strategic thinker with experience in business and financial planning.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Self-directed, ethical role model with professional credibility.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and decision-making skills
