Ring & DuChateau, a collaborative team of 90+ engineers, designers, technicians and support staff dedicated to engineering design and service excellence is seeking a full-time Civil Utility Designer I Engineer within our Utility and Energy Practice Center located in Brookfield, WI or Madison, WI. We will consider mentoring new graduates with a recent degree in civil engineering, or experienced engineers with utility design engineering experience.

In this position you will:


  1. Produce civil engineering designs for site development or redevelopment of energy and utilities, higher education, medical, science and technologies, commercial, hospitality and public facilities.
  2. Collaborate with other civil engineers, site design professionals, and permitting specialists.
  3. Prepare civil engineering designs, including project plan and specification production, utility system layout and analysis, site grading, erosion control plans and other site related features.
  4. Client Service and Project Management
  5. Project Scoping and Contracting
  6. Production of Construction Plans and Specifications
  7. Basic understanding of wastewater and sewer system engineering design.
  8. Understand basic water supply and main system engineering design.


You will need:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience with hopes the successful candidate will secure a PE.
  • Ability to occasionally travel overnight as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections/visits, etc.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Previous experience serving as a design engineer or project manager for multiple city infrastructure projects.
  • Previous project management, design and construction administration experience of Civil/Municipal projects including site improvements, streets, drainage and utilities.
  • Experience in preparing project plans, specifications and bidding documents.
  • Previous experience in project proposal preparation and client service management.
