Job Title: Litigation and Transactional Paralegal/Legal Assistant


Overview: We are searching for a skilled and motivated Litigation and Transactional Paralegal/Legal Assistant to play a pivotal role in our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both litigation and transactional processes, be highly organized, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality legal support.


Responsibilities:


1. Litigation Support:

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents for court proceedings, such as pleadings, motions, and briefs under the supervision of the attorneys.
  • Prepare Case Management Statements, declarations, and other documents to be filed with the Court under the supervision of the attorneys.
  • Coordinate and manage the discovery process, including document collection, review, document production, preparation of discovery responses in coordination with client and attorney, propound written discovery requests, and preparation of subpoenas under the supervision of the attorneys.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date litigation calendars, ensuring deadlines and court appearances are tracked and met.
  • Communicate effectively with court personnel, opposing counsel, and clients to coordinate litigation-related activities.
  • Prepare regular status updates for attorneys and clients on the progress of litigation matters.
  • Organize and index litigation files with most current pleadings.


2. Transactional Support:

  • Collaborate with attorneys in the preparation and drafting of a wide range of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and corporate filings.
  • Conduct thorough research to provide comprehensive support for transactional matters.
  • Assist in due diligence processes for mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions.
  • Manage and organize transactional files, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Facilitate communication between clients and attorneys, addressing inquiries and providing updates on transactional matters.


3. Communication and Collaboration:

  • Act as a central point of contact between attorneys, clients, and external parties.
  • Draft, proofread, and edit legal correspondence, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
  • Facilitate effective communication within the legal team and ensure that information is shared in a timely manner.


4. Administrative Duties:

  • Assist in managing attorney schedules, including coordinating appointments, court dates, and deadlines.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical legal files, ensuring efficient retrieval of information.
  • Handle administrative tasks, such as photocopying, scanning, and filing, to support the smooth functioning of the legal team.


Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic, motivated, team player.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, paralegal certificate required.
  • Minimum two (2) years proven experience as a legal assistant, preferably with a focus on both litigation and transactional matters.
  • Substantial experience with electronic filing in the Superior Courts in California, especially the Riverside Superior Court, including familiarity with California procedural laws regarding deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or Lexis Nexis, and document preparation software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and experience with a legal time keeping system.

Salary Range: $30 to $36 per hour, commensurate with experience.
