Job Title: Software Packaging and Support Specialist
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Software Packaging and Support Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for preparing, deploying, and providing ongoing support for software packages used across various systems and hardware platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience working with deployment tools such as Altiris, Ansible, and SaltStack to automate and manage software distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software Packaging:
- Prepare software packages for deployment across various platforms and hardware configurations.
- Create virtual software packages, ensuring compatibility and smooth deployment.
- Test and validate software packages to confirm they function correctly in the target environment.
- Deployment and Support:
- Deploy software packages to end-user systems and hardware using Altiris, Ansible, SaltStack, or other deployment tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to software deployment and system compatibility.
- Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to end users, ensuring proper installation and functionality of deployed applications.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with IT teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient software deployment processes.
- Follow instructions from senior team members to troubleshoot and resolve deployment-related issues.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on software packages, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Create reports on software deployment status, issues, and resolutions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in software packaging, deployment, and support, with familiarity using deployment tools like Altiris, Ansible, and SaltStack.
- Hands-on experience with virtual package creation and pushing packages to end-user devices or systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve deployment-related issues efficiently.
- Experience with basic scripting or automation to support deployment processes.
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, or other operating systems in a networked environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions while working independently.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with other deployment tools and software management platforms.
- Familiarity with network configurations and hardware management.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in software packaging, deployment, and support.
This role requires a proactive individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a keen attention to detail, capable of working within established processes while also adapting to new technologies and systems.
