The Senior Project Engineer will play a key role in advancing Dimension Inx’s core platform technology and will work  closely with the R&D and product development teams to design, iterate, test, and produce novel therapeutic products  to improve patient lives. The ideal candidate is a technically focused scientist or engineer with a strong background in  tissue engineering, biomaterials, regenerative medicine, or materials science, thrives in a rapidly changing, fast-paced  environment, and has experience working on multiple and varied projects simultaneously. This role will contribute to  collaborative early-stage projects, internal innovation focused R&D, design and development of new biomaterials, as  well as various new product development projects.  


+ Key Responsibilities 

  • Supports development of new biomaterial products from initial concept and design through prototyping, in vitro and  in vivo testing, design controls, manufacturing, regulatory approval, and market introduction • Proficiently utilizes or is developing skills to utilize additive manufacturing technology such as 3D-printing for use  with Dimension Inx’s core technology platform 
  • Oversees and executes various core R&D activities including but not limited to:  

-Conceptual and prototype development of new biomaterials to achieve experimental aims

-Materials characterization and analysis 

-Cell expansion and cryopreservation 

-Relevant physical benchtop testing and in vitro cell culture studies 

-Planning of in vivo studies 

-Transfer of R&D projects into GMP-level manufacturable products 

-Development and execution of experimental plans 

-Ensuring procedural and document compliance 

-Creation of draft and final reports on various project development activities 

  • Creates and executes technical process protocols and SOPs with adherence to internal quality systems and policies
  • Collects and evaluates technical data and makes recommendations to advance project development 
  • Works with and occasionally manages external third-party vendors and relationships 
  • Coordinates project supply needs and responsibly manages R&D budget when ordering lab supplies
  • Manages multiple R&D and new product development projects at a given time while maintaining deadlines and  adhering to budget requirements 
  • May act as a Technical Lead for one or more internal projects, responsible for project management including  developing functional team meeting agendas, project documentation, and creating/updating project plan with input  from team. 


+ Position Requirements 

  • BS (with 5+ years), MS (with 3 – 5+ years), PhD (with 0 – 1 years) of experience in Materials Science and Engineering,  Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Biomedical  Engineering, or related engineering or biological field
  • Experience with materials science engineering principles and concepts with a focus on biopolymer synthesis,  modification, and characterization is a plus 
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with chemical handling, powder process and handling, material characterization, and data analysis is a plus 
  • Strong working knowledge of cell/material interactions and experience with in vitro cell culture techniques; ideally  with various cell lines e.g. mesenchymal stem cells, primary epithelial and endothelial cells, fibroblasts, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering concepts with experience in in vitro and  in vivo study design and execution 
  • Experimental design expertise and experience with wet lab techniques including but not limited to: protein/RNA/DNA quantification, PCR, qRT-PCR, histology, immunohisto- and cytochemistry, microscopy (light,  fluorescence, confocal), tissue processing and histological staining, in vitro cell culture, bioassay development and  execution, data analysis, etc 
  • Experimental design expertise and experience with materials characterization techniques is a plus, including but not  limited to: scanning electron microscopy, static and dynamic mechanical testing, rheology, thermogravimetric  analyses, differential scanning calorimetry, mass spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, dynamic light scattering,  etc. 
  • Experience with extrusion-based 3D-printing/additive manufacturing technologies is a plus • Industry experience working in a MedTech or Pharma/Biotech product-focused organization on projects related to  new product development is a plus 
  • Ability to work independently and within teams on several projects at a given time 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with proficiencies in oral and written communication and presentation of technical  information to broad audiences 
  • Experience with training and mentoring junior personnel
