Overview:

Clifton Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Speech-Language Specialist to join our team of dedicated professionals. The Speech-Language Specialist will play a critical role in providing comprehensive speech and language services to students with communication disorders or delays, enabling them to achieve academic success and reach their full potential. Responsibilities:


Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate students’ speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders or delays.

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and intervention strategies to address the unique needs and goals of students with speech and language disorders, in collaboration with parents/guardians, teachers, and support staff.

Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students in individual or small group settings, targeting areas such as articulation, phonology, fluency, voice, language comprehension, expression, pragmatics, and social communication skills.

Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions to improve students’ communication abilities, including speech drills, language exercises, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, and assistive technology.

Collaborate with classroom teachers and other educational professionals to support the integration of speech and language goals into the academic curriculum and classroom activities.

Monitor and document students’ progress, collect data, and adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure continuous improvement and achievement of communication objectives.

Provide consultation, training, and support to teachers, parents, and caregivers on strategies for facilitating language development, enhancing communication skills, and promoting a supportive communication environment.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, and student support team meetings to discuss student progress, develop intervention plans, and make recommendations for additional services or accommodations.

Stay current with research, trends, and best practices in the field of speech-language pathology through professional development activities, workshops, conferences, and continuing education opportunities.

Adhere to ethical standards, professional guidelines, and regulatory requirements governing the practice of speech-language pathology, as well as school policies and procedures.

Qualifications:


Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited program.

Current state licensure or certification in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP or equivalent) and eligibility for state education certification as a Speech-Language Specialist.

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.

Previous experience working with children and adolescents with a variety of speech, language, and communication disorders in a school or clinical setting.

Knowledge of assessment tools, evaluation procedures, and therapeutic interventions for speech, language, and swallowing disorders.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

Ability to develop rapport with students, families, and colleagues and establish positive working relationships.

Proficiency in using technology and educational software for assessment, therapy, and data management purposes.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
