Workday OPAL Product DirectorPublic Sector Solutions Group (PS2G)Philadelphia, PA (Onsite Only)About the RolePS2G is partnering with the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Innovation and Technology to identify an experienced Workday OPAL Product Director. This leader will guide the strategy, optimization, and performance of Workday Financials and Purchasing across a complex public-sector environment.You will oversee a 40-person cross-functional team, drive enterprise Workday initiatives, and serve as the strategic voice shaping the City’s financial and purchasing technology roadmap.This is a highly visible role that impacts financial operations, procurement modernization, and citywide digital transformation.What You Will LeadProduct Strategy & RoadmapBuild and maintain the Workday Financial Management roadmap aligned with citywide strategic goals.Translate stakeholder needs into a multi-year Workday product strategy.Oversee the full product lifecycle from concept to delivery.Team LeadershipLead, coach, and manage a team of 40 Workday analysts, administrators, and functional specialists.Drive performance, engagement, and technical excellence across Workday modules.Establish team training programs and build long-term capability.Cross-Functional CollaborationServe as the bridge between technical teams, business owners, and senior leadership.Translate business requirements into actionable Workday enhancements.Influence decision-making across Finance, Purchasing, and Technology.Project DeliveryOversee Workday implementations, upgrades, and major releases.Ensure delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.Provide clear communication on timelines, risks, and outcomes.Optimization & Continuous ImprovementMonitor platform performance and lead optimizations.Evaluate and deploy new Workday features.Integrate Workday with other enterprise platforms and resolve system dependencies.Training, Communication & AdoptionAct as SME for Workday enterprise-wide.Drive change-management initiatives and promote user adoption.Ensure documentation, training, and support resources remain current.Compliance & SecurityEnsure compliance with public-sector regulations and data-privacy requirements.Partner with IT and Security teams to maintain data integrity and system security.Required QualificationsDeep expertise in Workday Financials & Purchasing modules, including configuration, deployment, and support.10+ years managing financial systems, including 5+ years in a leadership role.Experience managing large (30+ person) cross-functional teams.Workday product ownership experience within a public-sector organization.Strong knowledge of public-sector finance, procurement, compliance, and data-privacy regulations.Experience with Workday Studio, Reporting, and Integrations.Highly PreferredERP experience beyond WorkdayMBA or Workday CertificationStrong communication and executive-presence skillsAbility to operate in fast-moving and complex environmentsAdditional DetailsOnsite only (no remote option)Two interview rounds: 1 virtual + 1 onsiteCandidate must establish primary residence in Philadelphia within 6 months of hire
