Hiring a Helpdesk Specialist

This role will serve as the primary point of contact for on-site first-level technical support for employees. Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Utilize standardized troubleshooting procedures to resolve PC hardware and software issues promptly. Escalate complex problems to relevant IT personnel with detailed documentation.
  • Provide support for front office peripheral devices, including but not limited to barcode scanners, receipt printers, card readers, and report printers.
  • Assist in the technical support of mobile work order management technologies (i.e. Tablets, Cellular Connectivity, Etc.).
  • Aid in the technical support of mobile meter reading PC hardware, software, and connectivity.
  • Coordinate with vendors to facilitate technical support requests, ensuring timely resolution of issues and effective communication between stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation to support business continuity planning and user training. Document troubleshooting steps, system configurations, and best practices for future reference.
  • Support the IT Operations team in researching, implementing, and supporting PC software tools as directed by IT management. This includes evaluating software solutions, conducting compatibility tests, assisting with deployment, and providing guidance to team members on escalated support issues as needed.

Top skills you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field; with 1-2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to translate security and risk concepts to all levels of the business.
  • Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to solve problems with a systematic and logical approach.
  • Exhibit a professional, friendly, and value-added, service-oriented approach to interactions while maintaining an ability to be highly productive.
