Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Global Operations, the Senior Plant Manager is responsible for leading all operations in Zinpro’s Garner, Iowa manufacturing facility. The Senior Plant Manager will drive the production of multiple Zinpro product lines produced in the Garner site. This role will establish policies and procedures to achieve optimized production schedules, product standards, and operational costs, and promote the maintenance of a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment. The Senior Plant Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing Zinpro’s strategic business initiatives for the Garner facility.


Essential Functions

  • Leads the facility in the design, management, and implementation of our comprehensive Health and Safety programs and provides direction to all levels within the plant regarding appropriate Health and Safety practices. Plans, implements, evaluates and communicates safety initiatives that meet and exceed regulatory requirements
  • Leads all production and personnel activity in Zinpro’s Garner, Iowa manufacturing plant as the site’s senior leader, as well member of Zinpro’s Global Operations leadership team
  • Manages cross-functional onsite team that includes production, maintenance, office, lab, safety, and related support functions to drive exceptional performance toward production objectives and alignment with overall strategic organizational deliverables
  • Cultivate high-performing teams through performance management activities, as well as developmental coaching that fosters team members’ ongoing professional growth and increased impact
  • Leads the conception, development, and implementation of strategic programs to drive exceptional plant performance and ongoing continuous improvement, including production expansion initiatives
  • Ensures engineering/maintenance functions enable & enhance operational capabilities
  • Facilitates daily production meetings to communicate production requirements to the site management team and continuously align site activities with organization-wide production and operational objectives
  • Oversees the continuous improvement processes throughout the facility to optimize plant efficiency. Leverages daily management systems, lean problem-solving methodology and high-impact communication to drive results
  • Ensures plant record keeping, reporting and operation to ensure compliance with safety, health, quality and environmental regulatory standards and requirements
  • Oversees the production and quality control standards, obtains data regarding types, quantities, and specifications
  • Ensures compliance with the Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Hazard Analysis and Risk based Preventive Controls for food for animals
  • Oversees production, quality control, maintenance and operations reports to determine causes of non-conformance and directs activities of plant staff for corrective actions
  • Partner with cross-functional Zinpro teams outside the plant to resource and optimize plant operations in alignment with organizational goals
  • Participates in the development of budgets for equipment, staff, maintenance and plant operation, and monitors and manages facility operational costs. Coordinates and gives oversight to capital projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Management, or applicable field
  • Minimum 7 years’ plant management experience in a related field, including budget responsibility
  • Minimum 7 years managing a team of direct reports, as well as minimum 3 years managing managers
  • Ability to read, interpret and discuss chemical formulas
  • Experience in behavioral-based safety and root cause analysis

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business Management or applicable field
  • 10+ years’ plant management experience in a related field, including budget responsibility
  • Ability to design, purchase, develop, and maintain production equipment
  • Experience leading manufacturing facilities and staff in the feed, food, or chemical industries
  • Experience in S&OP and / or other cross-functional business leadership teams
  • Professional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, CMfgE, or APICS certification


Schedule Requirements

This position is expected to work within core business hours and requires participation in after-hours meetings with plant personnel on other shifts as well as conference calls with overseas business teams as needed.


Travel Requirements

This position will work primarily at their home manufacturing plant facility and is expected to engage in company-sponsored travel approximately 10-15% of the time. Travel will consist primarily of visits to Zinpro Corporate Headquarters and manufacturing facilities.
