Title: Subaward Specialist

Location: Louisville, KY (REMOTE)

Schedule: Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM EST

Duration: 6 month contract-to-hire


Job Overview:

Provide oversight and operational support in the review and management of subawards issued to external institutions, agencies and companies under sponsored program agreements in order to facilitate compliance with institutional, sponsor and Federal government policies and regulations. This position supports basic and applied/translational research including animal and human subjects research.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and issue subawards and subaward modifications in collaboration with the Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) Award Administration Core and other SPA cores as necessary.
  • Perform subrecipient risk assessments, create and maintain subaward monitoring documentation, and monitor all issued subawardees to ensure compliance with 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance), sponsoring agency, and institutional requirements as applicable.
  • Collect, review, and maintain Single Audits for compliance issues related to the issuance of subawards.
  • Provide oversight and operational support in the management of subaward invoices.
  • Collect, review, and maintain subaward invoices and subaward Payment Authorization forms.
  • Review and approve requisition in Peoplesoft for payment of invoices.
  • Ensure that all subaward invoices are paid in a timely manner and according to the MTDC rule.
  • Advise units, faculty investigators, and sponsors on the status of subawards, answer inquiries related to subaward compliance, university policy and administrative procedure, and other aspects of subrecipient monitoring and management.
  • Assist in the development of processes and procedures related to subrecipient monitoring and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and Internet research.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • PeopleSoft grants/financial experience.
  • iRIS grants module experience
