Job Summary:
Montgomery Cardiology is seeking an experienced and highly skilled general cardiologist to join our growing team in Rockville, MD. You will function independently while working collaboratively within a cohesive team to be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services and delivering high-quality cardiac care to all patients in a private practice setting. You will effectively interact with patients, and other staff while maintaining standards of professional services, medical care, and attention to detail.
You will not be expected to round in the hospital or take hospital call.
This is a full-time position Mon - Fri. Scheduled office on-call hours are required (phone calls only).
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations of patients
- Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, and chronic illnesses, incorporating evidence-based practices and tailoring treatment plans to the patient's unique needs
- Order and interpret diagnostic procedures and studies, such as labs, echocardiograms, ECG, MRI, and CT, and initiate appropriate interventions based on the results
- Demonstrate competence while performing exercise stress tests and nuclear stress tests
- Prescribe and manage medications for cardiac disorders, adjusting dosages as necessary and monitoring for any adverse effects
- Provide patient education and counseling on disease management, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and prevention strategies
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
- Communicate with collaborating physicians or specialists regarding patient care
- Obtain continuing medical education credits necessary to maintain current licensure and board certification
- During scheduled office hours, cardiologists shall be available for all urgent assessments as part of the team
- Participates in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs
- Functions within the defined scope of clinical practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, certification, regulations, institutional policy, and practice agreements
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited medical school
- Board-certified in Cardiology (board-eligible candidates still in training must be scheduled for their boards)
- Board-certified in Nuclear Cardiology (board-eligible candidates still in training must be scheduled for their boards)
- Valid and unrestricted Maryland state physician license, or ability to obtain
- Current and unrestricted DEA license
- Current ACLS certification
- Unrestricted ability to participate in Medicare and Medicaid, or other federal or state governmental programs
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Energetic, motivated, and collegial
- Strong clinical acumen, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and continuous professional development
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems, eClinicalWorks preferred
