You will be expected to exercise problem-solving skills, cover congressional hearings, and review policies in order to produce memos that analyze and distill the most relevant information for our clients.
This position will provide you with opportunities to develop expertise in a variety of policy topics, as well as apply new skills in a supportive and collaborative work environment. You will work alongside a team of policy professionals who are committed to your success and overall professional development. · The ideal candidate would have a background in one or more of the policy areas, particularly financial services, and tax policy, as well as a broad knowledge of and experience with the legislative process.
· Candidates should have at least one-year of professional work experience. Hill experience is also valuable, but not required. (Hill experience can be in the form of congressional internships).
· Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with a proven track record of producing high-quality, client-ready work.
· Ability to quickly process new information, distill it into key points and communicate clearly.
· Self-starter who can seamlessly pivot between working independently and in a team environment.
· Analytical thinker who has strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
· Ability to work in fast-paced environments and work under pressure to reliably meet competing deadlines and balance multiple priorities.
· Growth mindset focused on self-driven, continual learning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· An MPP or similar advanced degree is highly desired.
· Two to three years of additional experience covering financial services, tax, and trade policy.
· Strong project management skills.
· Experience communicating effectively with different types of audiences, as well as the ability to adjust written materials to meet specific client needs.
· Client management experience, including communicating directly with clients (e.g., emails, video calls, in-person meetings, and formal presentations).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Initiate and conduct research and analysis in the key issue areas – financial services, tax, and trade policy on behalf of the internal lobbying team as well as clients.
· Write and distribute a weekly congressional floor schedule and recap, in addition to relevant financial services news, hearings, and administration events in the weekly “Financial Services Week Ahead.”
· Watch and monitor hearings, markups, administration events, conferences, and briefings. Provide full memos and/or summary readouts within 24 hours or less. Occasionally provide live updates to clients during hearings.
· Maintain, update, and distribute legislation trackers for clients.
· Provide analysis of issues, develop briefing materials, and update internal lobbying team and clients on ongoing matters and new developments in real-time. Synthesize and communicate complex issues in clear and actionable ways.
· Work with lobbyists and/or directly with clients to produce specific research projects as needed.
· Assist lobbyists with proposal writing and editing as well as presentation preparation for client pitches.
· Identify and distribute relevant legislative materials, including hearing notices, witness lists and transcripts, and legislation.
· Participate in client meetings. Prepare agendas and take notes with action items for distribution to the internal/external client team.
· Identify relevant issues and conduct research and provide relevant background information for potential new business.
· Build, establish, and maintain strong working relationships with clients, so they feel comfortable reaching out to you directly, as an extension of their office.
· Collaborate with the Financial Services Research Assistant, delegating tasks such as project support and coverage of hearings, as needed.
If you have a passion for public policy and are interested in working in a collaborative environment with professionals committed to your development, we want to hear from you. We welcome applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and we recognize that skills and competencies can show up in different ways. If you meet many of the qualifications, but not all, we still encourage you to apply.
