POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced tech designer with a background in sweater knitting and/or cut & sew (accessories or apparel), yarn and fabric materials. Your primary role will be the responsibility of product uniformity and consistency of fit, quality and construction of your brands styles. You will create the tech packs being the primary source of communication with the factory on specs for each style you manage. You will need to be a team collaborator and mentor as your senior role will interface with the rest of the tech team, product development team, merchandisers, production, and overseas teams ensuring that the product is consistent and production timelines are met.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Be part of the team who build the seasonal Virtual Trend boards using different systems such as 3D Apex, In-Design, AI, Photoshop, etc.

· Be able to do market research, trend shopping, attend trade/trend shows, etc. Have the design eye.

· Be able to do trend presentations (virtual and/or in-person) to the brands we work with.

· Collaborate with Product Development/ Merchandising in translating the design sheets to technical packs, while giving suggestions on how to produce the product in the highest quality and market competitive price.

· Create, maintain, and update technical packs and BOM’s for all brands and in all product stages (Proto, PPS, TOP, etc) in our internal PLM system.

· Be able to attend Tech Pack handoff meetings from the brands and to the factory/s if needed. Contribute ideas and options to the group for sample construction in the meetings.

· Reviews and approves the fit, trim components and construction of the item within the development and production timeline. Includes checking samples in different stages.

· Communicate with PD and Production team on the review and approval of the samples.

· Prepares either CAD or 3D Designs for the brands as needed for presentations, sampling requirements (proto/SMS).

· Get trained in 3D design and be part in pushing the 3D program to it’s full potential (through R&D).

· Helps in product design and technical research (Knit R&D) as required by the company, specific to the brands need.


QUALIFICATIONS:

· 5-8 year/s in apparel or accessories industry in design/technical design.

· Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite program.

· Background in 3D design system is a plus.

· Knowledge of fibers, yarns, knitting and cut and sew.

· Ability to spec the products, read the fit and make corrections if necessary.

· Proactive on problem solving and solution oriented.

· Product risk assessment skills can identify issues and troubleshoot.

· Accountable to follow through on a task from beginning to end.

· Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.

· Ability to multi-task, self-manage and work independently.

· Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

· Able to deconstruct and reconstruct the product.

· Proficient in computer skills including Excel, AI and Photoshop. Will be trained in our internal PLM system.

· Positive attitude.


This position requires 10 -15% travel.


SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

• $70,000.00 USD - $125,000.00 USD annually

• Vacation: 10 days/year, 15 days/year at 5-year anniversary. 20 days/year at 10-year anniversary. Holidays: 15 days per year. Sick Leave: 6 days per year. PTO: 2 days per year.
