Are you ready to shift into the next gear of your career? As Senior Steel Buyer within Inalfa you are in the driver’s seat for leading all activities on behalf of Inalfa NA Region for assigned commodities in conjunction with the global buying strategies.


This candidate must have recent pricing and purchasing steel experience and a great knowledge of the steel market.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops, implements, and communicates strategies to all Inalfa stakeholders to support the company’s regional and global objectives. Along with all Inalfa stakeholders; Identifies, selects and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a competitive price whilst maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct for the assigned commodity.
  • Achieve annual cost reduction objectives for the assigned commodity by negotiation, resourcing or Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE)
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports for the assigned commodity.
  • Utilizes appropriate cost analysis, negotiation, and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
  • Initiate, lead/manage and actively support cost reduction initiatives. Ensure appropriate detailed cost analysis and negotiations are performed to achieve best value.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Find synergies between Regional Commodity and Operations/Project Purchasing, identifying and seizing opportunities to leverage suppliers for further cost reductions on existing business in exchange for new business.
  • Make use of SMS reports and supplier risk management tools to set supplier strategy.
  • Provide regular reports identifying activities/accomplishments/commodity strategy for the assigned commodity.
  • Participate with Supplier Quality Department in supplier development & supplier systems and quality audits.
  • Schedule & lead strategic business reviews annually with key suppliers.
  • Support the project team during kick off review meetings related for the assigned commodity
  • Proactively support, control and co-ordinate regional change management process for the assigned commodity
  • Supports and part of the supplier escalation problem solving team for all regional operations

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university, preferred; 2-3 (level II), 3-5 (Sr.) years related experience and/or technical background

  • Negotiating skills are necessary to get best overall value
  • Must understand cost drivers of product assigned for proper analytics
  • Must understand the market in automotive or relevant manufacturing industry
  • Must possess a technical acumen
  • Preferably knowledge of contractual language and contracts
  • Microsoft Office skills is a must


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Preferably a second language like Spanish or German


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

TRAVEL

Ability to travel internationally as required and determined by business demand. Current expected travel approximately 10%. Mainly local
