About Firm:

  • 7-year-old firm with litigation and transactional practice
  • 29 attorneys in 2 locations
  • This role is oriented around their toxic tort and environmental practice group, but experience in insurance defense or complex litigation is fine. Candidates with toxic tort experience will be strongly preferred.

Responsibilities of Role:

  • Attending depos – should be exposed to (sat in, took notes) but if they have done depos even better
  • Answering discovery
  • Drafting pleadings motions, pre-trial reports and performing risk analysis
  • Reviewing medical records (though paralegals do most of this)
  • Billable requirement: 2000, pro-rated for date of hire (“there is no concern about not meeting it – the work is there”)


Must Haves:

  • 1-3 years of experience in insurance defense, but even better, toxic tort litigation (asbestos, talk, mold, benzine, etc.)
  • CA bar license

Details of Role:

  • Hours: Attorneys typically work 9 hours per day but generally 8:30 to 5/5:30.
  • Profile that would be a fit:
  • Someone who wants to grow their litigation skills and be promoted
  • Not someone who just cares about clocking in and out, but rather someone who takes initiative and is committed to litigation defense. Is passionate, not just looking for a job.
  • Not someone coming form big law, this is more of a startup mentality (adaptable, not afraid of change, wants to help build)
  • Trial experience would be great if they have it
